Your Duties:
Stantec is hiring a manager in our Lexington, Kentucky, geotechnical laboratory which provides conventional and advanced field and laboratory testing services for soil, rock, aggregate, and concrete.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage staff and other resources to perform laboratory testing and construction observation/testing
Communicate with internal and external clients regarding scope of services and schedule
Oversee maintenance, calibration, purchase, and certification of equipment, including nuclear density gauges
Maintain laboratory certifications for AMRL, USACE, and CCRL
Hire, train, and supervise laboratory and field technicians
Coordinate with other Stantec laboratories to balance workload and share resources as needed
Prepare cost proposals for laboratory and field services
Perform quality control reviews of laboratory results and issue final reports
Promote safe work practices for all laboratory and field activities
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
Licensed registered engineer or other licensed registered professional with at least 5-years engineering or scientific experience, as appropriate, in the inspection and testing of soil/rock/concrete; OR a person with equivalent science-oriented education and experience (minimum of 5 years) having satisfactorily supervised and/or directed testing or inspection services of soil/rock/concrete.
The following certifications are preferred. The ability to obtain the following certifications within the first year of employment is also acceptable:
NICET Geotechnical Laboratory - Level III; or NICET Construction Materials Testing (Soils and Concrete) - Level III
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I
ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level 1 (includes both Concrete Strength Testing Technician and Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 1)
