Nurse-Assistant Nurse Manager

Responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety, interviewing applicants, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards. Actively develops and manages collaborative partnerships with physicians and other clinicians. (1) Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work (2) Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities of subordinates (3) Evaluates the performance of subordinates (4) Makes recommendations for appointments, advancements or reassignments of subordinates (5) Giving advice, counsel, or instruction to subordinate personnel on work and administrative matters; (6) Hearing and resolving complaints of subordinates and referring more serious complaints not resolved to higher level supervisors (7) Recommends and/or takes disciplinary action where appropriate (8) Identifies developmental and training needs of subordinates and providing or making provision for such development and training (VA Handbook 5007, Part Ill, Chapter 8). The ANM demonstrates management practices that include effective labor and performance management leadership skills and clinical skills of a registered nurse at the same grade. The nurse provides organizational performance improvement oversight to ensure positive patient outcomes and staff and patient satisfaction. The ANM is accountable for meeting applicable accreditation standards for the Medical Center. This role is critical for safe and effective care of groups of patients and meeting a variety of standards. Role responsibilities and accountabilities also include demonstration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of patients served in the assigned area of practice. This knowledge includes an understanding of the changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric population. The ANM is also responsible and accountable for maintaining general competencies for this position. In addition, the ANM is accountable and responsible for possessing the knowledge and skills to properly use equipment and maintain clinical skills applicable to the area of assignment. 2 years endoscopy experience preferred 2 years ICU experience or medical surgical/telemetry experience BSN preferred ACLS preferred PACU or specialty area experience with admitting and discharging patients1 year experience with moderate sedation Management experience preferred Work Schedule:

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. You must be able to perform work that requires regular and recurrent bending, lifting 30 pounds or more, stooping, climbing, twisting and/or bending, standing and/or walking almost constantly during the course of the day, reaching above the shoulder, stretching, and similar activities supporting various weights; walking and standing for 8 hours; frequent pushing medication carts, wheelchairs, litters, beds; use of fingers, both hands and both legs; emotional stability (you must be able to care for Veterans with various medical and psychiatric illnesses who at times may exhibit unpredictable behavior and may have the potential to be physically or verbally assultive); near vision correctable at 13 to 16 / far vision correctable in one eye to 20/50 and to 20/100 in the other / both eyes required with ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing aid permitted in order to sufficiently hear various alarms and respond immediately.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
