Operations Research Analyst

The work of Matrix's data analytics group, Matrix Analytics, is led by a growing team of members based out of Lexington, Kentucky.
Matrix Analytics projects are geared toward integrating hardware, software, and analytics solutions to successfully meet the needs of Matrix's clients and include work with the international subsidiaries of Matrix.
The Operations Research Analyst will work as a cohesive member of the Matrix Analytics team to formulate and apply mathematical and optimization modelling to decision making, valuation, complex problem solving and other business functions.
This position requires the collection and analysis of data to identify and understand potential and existing problems, show the implications of different actions to resolve the problems and assist in presenting a solution for the decision-making process.
This position reports to the Head of Analytics:
Operations.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesoCollecting and analyzing data from current operation systems to develop decision support software.
oGathering input from workers or people with specialized knowledge who can assist in solving operational problems.
oUsing statistical analysis or simulations to analyze the information to define operational problems, develop methods to analyze the problem, and develop practical solutions.
oDefining data requirements, gathering and validating information, and applying judgment and statistical tests to devise problem-solving actions.
oDeveloping mathematical models of potential and existing operational problems.
oPerforming tests to ensure the accuracy of the models.
oAdvising leadership teams on solutions and assisting with decision making.
oWriting reports on your findings and recommendations.
oDeveloping time and cost networks to plan, control, and review large projects.
oDeveloping business methods and procedures, such as accounting systems, logistics systems, and production schedules.
QualificationsoMinimum a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, economics, statistics, finance, or related fieldsoMSc is a plusoMinimum 8
years' experience as an Operators Research Analyst in an established organization.
oStrong Microsoft Office skillsoSignificant experience creating models in Excel for business insightsoExperience using a business intelligence tool eg.
PowerBi or TableauoWorking knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and dataoKnowledge of statistical tools in Excel, SQL, and SASoStrong verbal and written communication skills oAbility to work well in a pressured/high pace environmentoProgramming experience preferredoPrevious mining experience is not required oDrafting reports and presentation skillsoLeadership skills with proven experience managing a small teamoStrong analytical skills and problem solvingoHigh level of attention to detailoAbility to organize and prioritizeoMust have personal means of transportation Working ConditionsoThe general working conditions for this position is an office environment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
