American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider valid through at least 6 months from initial employment date also required.
Physical Requirements The essential functions for this position include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds occasionally and 25-50 pounds frequently; as well as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time.
The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, hazards of radiation, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Shift Primarily day shifts, 8-4:
30pm but other hours as needed to cover the needs of the department Job Summary This position provides the necessary oversight, guidance, education and skills to onboard new clinical nursing staff and management of ongoing competency and professional development of nurses.
The Staff Development Specialist will serve to meet enterprise-wide clinical nursing education requirements, including general nursing orientation within nursing services including, but not limited to inpatient and ancillary areas.
Primary focus within Pulmonary Medicine ICU service line This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ( CMS ).
Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022.
This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID -19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment.
Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID -19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption.
Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.

No Preferred Education/Experience Preferred experience in staff development and adult learning in a healthcare setting (or Master's Degree in related field with Baccalaureate in Nursing) Previous experience within Nursing Staff Development or education preferred.
ICU experience preferred.
