Job Summary The Department of Physiology at the University of Kentucky is seeking a Research Assistant Senior to work in the laboratories of Drs Bieberich and Spassieva.
The two laboratories focus on the study of sphingolipids and their function in the nervous system.
Several mouse model systems are used and human samples are also examined.
The applicant will be expected to manage several colonies of >1000 mice from > 10 different strains.
The applicant will be responsible for breeding, genotyping, and supplying animals to ongoing research projects in the laboratories.
The applicant will also work on independent projects (involving surgery), using the animals from the colonies.
Organizational skills, attention to detail and communication skills are essential.
Candidates must have at least a B.

, and previous experience with mouse husbandry, surgery and genotyping.
Competitive salary will be based on experience.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
