Job Summary The Department of Entomology (DeVries Lab) at the University of Kentucky is hiring a Research Analyst (full-time) to assist in urban entomology research and extension efforts.
Defined broadly, urban entomology encompasses a multitude of topics relating to biology, behavior, and management of pests found indoors and around structures.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
rearing insects (primarily cockroaches and bed bugs), conducting experiments independently and as part of a team, working in homes with pest-infestations, delivering education materials to the public (homeowners, pest control operators, chemical companies), helping students, ordering supplies, and overseeing day-to-day lab operation.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Standard computer software programs (word, excel, powerpoint), statistics, pesticide certification, experience controlling indoor and structural pests, excellent communication, supervision/training experience.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? Yes Preferred Education/Experience MS or PhD degree; 2 years of experience working in a research laboratory.
