Our _Transit Drivers_ transport loaded and empty Gordon Food Service trailers from GFS Distribution Centers or from point-to-point via night transfers in a timely manner.
_Among many responsibilities, this position is involved in the following activities on a regular basis:_
Build and maintain quality internal and external customer relationships
Collaborate with the Manager, Assistant Transportation Manager, and/or dispatcher for work assignments, changes in assignments, and on-time delivery performance of work assignments
Perform proper equipment maintenance, reporting issues and physical damages in a timely manner
Monitor refrigeration unit
Complete driver check-ins s required
Maintains safe work and safe driving practices
Perform daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicles to include proper completion of paperwork and inspection forms
Maintain daily GFS and DOT logs
50 Ft. Experience
Must work Saturday's
Must be able to run over night
_Key qualifications and requirements for this position include:_
You must be 21years of age or older (required)
High school diploma or GED equivalent (required)
CDL Class A (Commercial Drivers License) with doubles endorsement required
Working knowledge of the tractor/trailer
One year of previous driving experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Demonstrate dependability and punctuality
Able to write, speak, and communicate in English (required)
Demonstrate the ability to operate equipment in a professional & safe manner
Ability to work independently on varying schedules
Strong attention to detail
Effective problem-solving, communication, and organization skills
Ability to satisfy the DOT requirements
Must pass a physical ability test and RIAH drug screen
Some computer knowledge is preferred
Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds on a regular basis
