Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required
Prefer 2 years of clinical lab experience including processing/accessioning specimens
Also prefer 2 years experience in a leadership role (team lead, supervisor, etc) but not necessarily in a lab environment
Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Will travel frequently between the labs in Lexington and Louisville-must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record
Must have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally to all levels of employees
This position is scheduled as a 40 hour week but often requires overtime with little to no notice
Job Description:
LabCorp is seeking a Team Lead for our Accessioning Department in Lexington, KY. This is a full time position working 5PM-1:30AM Monday-Friday and rotating Saturdays with overtime to be expected on a regular basis.
This position f unctions/acts as a work leader and coordinates the workflow within the department. Will be responsible for reviewing and assigning work. Researches, troubleshoots, and follows-up on customer inquiries and problems. Troubleshoots and assists department employees in resolving problems. Keeps supervisor informed. Trains employees. Performs administrative duties as assigned by Supervisor.
In addition to teamlead duties listed above, the position will also involve normal Accessioner duties such as preparing laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing. Unpacking specimens from branches or ports and routing specimens by type to various staging areas. Prepares all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments or locations such as staging of specimens, centrifuge, separate serum, and blood smears. Aliquots sample for departments. Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and resolves and document problem specimens.
