Lexmark has an exciting opportunity for a software engineer experienced with open source software review processes that can that join our Software Compliance and Licensing team. The ideal candidate must have a strong technical and programming background and be willing to learn new technologies to review development software for presence of open source. Candidate must communicate effectively with software developers, program managers, and Lexmark attorneys to obtain open source approvals on schedule.


This is a fast paced and critical position - multitasking and ability to quickly change priorities based on business needs is required. Familiarity with Open Source software is critical.


Job
Responsibilities:



  • Work collaboratively with Legal and Software Security teams to develop and maintain the policies for acceptable Open Source usage in Lexmark products

  • Educate R&D on open source policies and processes,

  • Analyze results from commercial open source scan and vulnerability tools to evaluate acceptability of open source.

  • Work with software R&D to ensure the proper remediation is done when open source vulnerabilities are discovered


Required Education



  • Bachelor's Degree in technical field required (CS, CE, MIS, Engineering Mathematics, or related field)


Required Skills / Experience



  • Experience and knowledge of programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, C, C++, C#.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of various database/query languages, formatting languages, and data formats such as SQL, HTML, CSS, JSON, XML, and regular expressions.

  • Experience with Open Source Software licensing - which means you know what General Public License (GPL) means and recognize the term Apache Software Foundation (ASF).

  • Experience with commercial open source analysis tools such as Palamida is a plus

  • Extremely detail oriented

  • Effective project management skills with the ability to manage many concurrent projects

  • Effective problem solving and analysis skills

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively across teams from software development, Legal, and other internal stakeholders
