Job Description:


The motion control engineer will deliver motion control solutions for Lexmark products, leveraging a variety of technical fields (electrical, mechanical, embedded programming, motion control theory, etc.). In addition, the candidate will have opportunities to work on advanced technology items to strategically improve our future motion control deliverables.


Job Duties Include:



  • Work with product teams to determine motion control needs and solutions

  • Use a variety of tools (e.g., microcontrollers, custom fixtures and PCBAs, oscilloscopes, etc.) to run and evaluate motor systems and prototype builds

  • Select and qualify motors to be used in applications

  • Determine motor driver needs and qualify new motor drivers as needed

  • Develop, tune, and verify motion control algorithms to meet functional requirements and ensure stability

  • Develop models of electromechanical systems to verify control system performance and tuning

  • Work on strategic advanced technology items (e.g., new control algorithms, creative methods of lower cost, improved performance, lower acoustics, increased reliability, etc.)

  • Work with overseas personnel as needed in co-development efforts

  • Address current production issues related to motion control



Qualifications:



  • BS/MS Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred)

  • General entry-level programming skills (such as C or Matlab)

  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical principles

  • Understanding of motion control theory preferred

  • Ability to travel internationally (as needed, typically once per year max)

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment and with overseas personnel

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Ability to be responsible for broad assignments, determine required actions, prioritize those action items, and execute them in a timely manner

  • Adaptable to changing requirements and project needs
